As a
Physical Educator I will try to be an impact in my student’s life by modeling behavior
that is positive, active and productive. There are too many distractions in the
world that reduces student’s participation in outdoor activities, sports or just
simple play. Thus I will make an effort to collaborate with my colleagues
within and outside of my department to infuse different contents to entice,
inspire and motivate my students to explore new horizons. It is my goal that
students in my class are provided with a host of activities that include
movement, fitness, sports, recreation/leisure activities and dance.
Additionally I will strive to provide varying activities which will allow student
to choose and decide which activities they may want to participate in by
encouraging their interests and developing this interest through active participation
in their activity of choice. I hope to make my Physical Education class one that
teaches students how to incorporate life long skills into preventing and
learning about healthy growth and development. I believe that being physically
active for a lifetime is very important. When I was a child I admired my Middle
School physical education teacher who years later became my coach and a role
model. I can only pray to make an impact in my student’s life. “The perfect
blossom is a rare thing. You could spend your life looking for one, and it
would not be a wasted life.” Japanese proverb. What this means to me no matter
how much the world may change, no matter how the students do not want to
interact, I will continue to strive to make a difference and impact in the
world. If in my entire career I only reach a handful of students, I will be
happy for I have made a contribution to the world.
